Is the Kwikset 690T Combo Pack the Key to Home Security? A RealLife Test and Review
Kwikset 690T Combo Pack Review: A BudgetFriendly Upgrade for Better Security
When it comes to securing your home, finding the right lock is crucial. Having recently moved into a new place, I was on the hunt for a reliable, affordable, and relatively easytoinstall lock, which led me to the Kwikset 690T Tylo Keyed Entry Knob and Single Cylinder Deadbolt Combo Pack.
### First Impressions
The Kwikset 690T offers a beautifully minimalist design with its satin chrome finish. It’s sleek enough to blend into any modern décor while feeling durable and robust at first touch. The Smart Key technology was also a big draw for me, promising flexibility in rekeying without the hassle or expense of a locksmith.
### Installation Experience
Now, I’m not exactly a DIY expert, but I found the installation to be straightforward. The instructions were clear, and with a power drill, I had both the knob and deadbolt in place within about 30 minutes. I appreciated not having to make any additional holes or adjustments to my door, which is often a hidden drawback with other locks.
### Daily Use and Features
Over the past month, I’ve been using this Kwikset lock daily, and so far, it’s held up impressively well. The Smart Key feature is a gamechanger if you’re prone to losing keys like I am. In a couple of minutes, I rekeyed the lock myself—it was simple and incredibly convenient.
### Pros and Cons
Pros:
Effortless ReKeying: Thanks to Smart Key, rekeying is quick and requires no professional help.
Sleek Design: The satin chrome finish not only adds a touch of class but also hides fingerprints.
CostEffective: Considering its features, the Kwikset 690T is reasonably priced.
Cons:
Basic Aesthetics: While polished, the design may not win any style awards compared to more expensive models.
Noise Level: The deadbolt isn’t the smoothest or quietest when locking and unlocking, which might be a minor annoyance for some.
### Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for an upgrade that won’t break the bank and offers some degree of modern convenience, the Kwikset 690T is an excellent choice. It provides reliable security, a stylish appearance, and the ease of rekeying all in one package. For those prioritizing practicality and dependability in home security, this combo pack is well worth considering.
